WHAT: E-Recycling Solutions, a project of Community Service and Employment Training, Inc. (CSET), will hold electronics recycling events on Friday and Saturday, May 25th and May 26th in Visalia and Thursday through Saturday, May 31st through June 2nd in Tulare. Teaming with Fresno-based Electronic Recyclers, CSET will provide the community an easy opportunity to safely unload their old computers, monitors, television sets and other out-dated, unusable or unwanted electronic items for proper recycling.

It is estimated that over six million computer monitors and televisions are stockpiled in California garages, closets and attics due to the development of newer technologies. This electronic equipment can be harmful to the environment and human health if not properly recycled.

Many Californians are also unaware that it is illegal to throw certain electronic items, such as televisions and computer monitors, in the trash because of the environmentally sensitive materials they contain.

Funds generated by the recycling drive will help CSET continue strengthening youth, families, and communities through education, employment training, youth development, mentoring, leadership building, job creation, environmental stewardship and other strategies that support self-reliant families and caring communities.

The electronics collected will be trucked away and recycled by Fresno-based Electronic Recyclers, the largest recycler of electronic waste in California, at their state-of-the-art facility.

“We are very proud to be involved in these events and to be able to help CSET continue its important work,” said John S. Shegerian, Chairman and CEO of Electronic Recyclers. “Electronic waste is a growing problem that affects the environment and human health. Events like these provide the community with a great, easy way to safely recycle their old electronics as well as raise much needed funds.”
