During the three days of professional golf competition at this year’s Toshiba Classic tournament, Friday, March 7 through Sunday, March 9, Electronic Recyclers International (ERI) is teaming with Toshiba to invite the community to participate in the “Swing for the Green” Toshiba Classic Recycling Event.
As part of Toshiba’s commitment to demonstrate a leading role in establishing a sustainable society, this program will provide the community with a free and easy way to responsibly dispose of e-waste. As a thank you, everyone who participates by bringing an item for recycling will receive two free admission tickets good for any one day of the tournament.
Patrons are encouraged to bring their outdated electronic equipment between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day. Products including desktop PCs, laptops, computer monitors, printers, camcorders, fax machines, cell phones, VCRs, DVD players, rechargeable batteries, MP3 players and stereos(a) can be dropped off at two different locations: the main entrance at the Newport Beach Country Club or the Newport Dunes public parking lot. All e-waste will be responsibly recycled by Fresno-based ERI, the nation’s leading recycler of electronics.

It is Toshiba’s goal to collect nearly 30,000 pounds of e-waste during the Toshiba Classic. Since 2005, Toshiba has participated in over 20 recycling events around the U.S., helping to not only displace recyclable metals, plastics, and glass from reaching local landfills, but also deferring the costs from local citizens.
Environmental responsibility is a top priority of the Toshiba Classic. On the course, specially marked recycling bins will be placed throughout for recycling of plastics, cans, glasses and other waste. And to save energy, we are working with tournament vendors to ensure that generators are more efficient. In addition, the bus schedule has been modified to ensure maximum efficiency but reduce diesel use. These efforts, along with the inaugural recycling event, support Toshiba’s global commitment to reducing its impact on the natural environment and to contribute to the establishment of a recycling-based society.
