1-800-Recycling.com, an interactive nationwide website dedicated to enhancing and democratizing the consumer recycling experience while making practical suggestions about green living, is encouraging its users to spread the word about responsible recycling via Facebook – and is incentivizing the effort with a chance to win a free Apple iPad!

As described in an announcement by 1-800-Recycling.com today, any US-based Facebook user that invites ten friends to become a fan or “like” 1-800-Recycling.com’s fan page on Facebook and fills out a short contest form will automatically be put into a drawing to win the free iPad, courtesy of 1-800-Recycling.com.

“Our Facebook page is fast becoming one of the best ways for us to communicate and share recycling information and ideas, so what better way to help us accomplish our goal of getting more of the world to recycle than to offer as a prize today’s most coveted consumer electronics item, the Apple iPad,” said John Shegerian, Chairman and CEO of Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the nation’s leading recycler of electronics and e-waste, and parent company of 1-800-Recycling.com.

Shegerian added that the winner will be randomly selected on June 8th, 2010.

Aside from its Facebook fan page, 1-800-Recycling.com also provides visitors to its own site with a dedicated tool to find recycling locations nearest to them (every zip code in the country is covered) for whatever it is they wish to recycle.

Consumers can also opt to call 1-800-Recycling via telephone for a 24/7 phone line resource. Both the site and the phone service will be able to direct users to responsible recyclers of electronics, tires, oil, paint, glass, plastic, household hazardous waste, wood, mattresses, carpet, junk – basically everything that can be recycled.
