Greg Lunday of Gresham, Oregon will receive a free Apple iPad this week – and all he had to do was download the free iPhone App, “My Recycle List,” a user-friendly tool designed to help anyone anywhere participate in the recycling of items they would otherwise throw away. “My Recycle List” is currently the #1 recycling app for the iPhone.

1-800-Recycling.com, an interactive nationwide website dedicated to enhancing and simplifying the consumer recycling experience, created the “My Recycle List” App and offered recyclers around the country a chance to win a free Apple iPad after downloading and reviewing the interactive recycling tool. Those that did were put into a drawing to win the free iPad, and 1-800-Recycling.com randomly selected Lunday, an avid recycler.

“This is a great surprise,” said Lunday. “Many thanks to the good people at 1-800-Recycling – I really look forward to using my new iPad!! And more importantly, keep up the great work helping people recycle!”

“Congratulations to Greg for winning our contest, and more importantly, for making responsible recycling choices that benefit our environment and preserve precious natural resources,” said John Shegerian, Chairman and CEO of Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the nation’s leading recycler of electronics and e-waste, and parent company of 1-800-Recycling.com. “We hope that this inspires others to recycle responsibly. Thanks to our 1-800-Recycling.com website, phone line, and App, we’re doing everything we can to make the process as simple as possible for anyone, anywhere.”

The 1-800-Recycling system provides visitors to its site, phone lines or users of its App with a dedicated tool to find recycling locations nearest to them (every zip code in the country is covered) for whatever it is they wish to recycle. The system can direct users to responsible recyclers of electronics, tires, oil, paint, glass, plastic, wood, mattresses, carpet, junk – basically everything that can be recycled.
