Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), an electronic waste recycler, and Kingston Technology, a memory products developer, have partnered to launch a program enabling consumers to mail back unwanted memory products for privacy-protecting recycling at ERI’s e-waste recycling plant in Fresno.

The program featuring mail-back option and automated phone system will recycle computer memory in various formats, including memory modules, USB drives and cards such as SD and microSD.

ERI’s certified process is claimed to ensure a safe recycling of the memory, completely destroying all the information stored on the memory devices and the company will also provide certificates of destruction upon request.

ERI chairman and CEO John Shegerian said that the company is honored to have been chosen by Kingston to work on this important and groundbreaking recycling program that will lead the memory industry into a new realm of best practices.

“The proper erasing of data from memory products has kept many from responsibly recycling their e- waste and thanks to Kingston’s forward-thinking efforts to work with us and establish this program, this is a problem that has been solved,” Shegerian said.
