Kevin Dillon, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the leading recycler of electronic waste in the United States, addressed the issue of recycling electronic waste responsibly and effectively yesterday at the sixth annual World Scrap Metal Congress 2010 at the Gran Melia Shanghai in China.
Leading a discussion specifically focused on the proper handling of electronic waste, Dillon stressed that the e-waste recycling can continue to be a booming sector of the industry, but only if it is performed responsibly and with an eye toward sustainability.
“At ERI, we are presently the number one recycler of electronics in the US and we have a global vision of expanding what we’ve done there to other countries, including the great nation of China,” said John Shegerian, ERI’s Chairman and CEO. “Electronic waste – still the fastest growing waste stream in the world today – can be recycled anywhere in the world thanks to technologically efficient and environmentally responsible urban mining methodologies such as those we have been using in the US. China, where there is the greatest concentration of recycling in the world today, represents a tremendous green business opportunity, if done properly.”
