John Shegerian, Chairman and CEO of Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the nation’s leading recycler of electronic waste, shared ERI’s success story as a green, sustainable business in a relatively new industry and discussed the tremendous promise of “urban mining” and the green color workforce today at the 2011 Canaccord Genuity Growth Conference at the Intercontinental Boston.

Addressing an audience of investors and financial analysts looking for specific insights into the biggest trends among growth industries, Shegerian stressed the mounting environmental problems caused by e-waste, still the fastest growing element of the international waste stream, and how the long-range national and international potential of electronic recycling as a viable business and global industry has proven to have dynamic staying power, and in terms of the promise of urban mining, potential for explosive growth.

“It’s a great honor to have been asked to present at the Canaccord Genuity Conference and to discuss the promise of electronic recycling and urban mining before such an influential financial community audience,” said Shegerian. “The planet’s increasing glut of electronic waste is a problem that’s time for resolution can no longer wait. The solution to that problem has fast become one of the hottest growth industries in the world today. As more and more businesses are getting in touch with their green DNA, we believe our young industry will continue to have substantial impact in terms of fiscal growth and providing jobs to the fast growing green color worker base.”
