Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the nation’s leading recycler of electronic waste, participated yesterday in an “Environmental Focus Career Panel” as part of the DC Career Exploration Trip program by the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs (IU SPEA) at the DoubleTree Hotel in Dupont Circle Washington, DC.

Addressing visiting graduate and undergraduate IU SPEA students keen to learn more about environmentally focused careers, Katie Reilly, ERI’s Program Manager of E-Waste Legislation, head of ERI’s office in the nation’s capital, offered insights and an overview of the tremendous promise offered by green jobs and industry.

Reilly, herself an IU SPEA alum with a Masters in Public Affairs, concentrating on environmental policy and natural resource management, was joined on the panel by representatives from URS Corporation and the American Water Works Association.

“It’s a privilege to have been asked to help my alma mater, IU SPEA, engage students in the green business discussion and help connect them with potential employers and career paths,” said Reilly. “I know from my own experience that IU SPEA is a policy focused school that effectively aids students in their pursuits of careers in both the public and private sectors – where their skills are valued and needed.”

“We’re honored to have Katie represent us at this terrific event,” said ERI Chairman and CEO John Shegerian. “I applaud Indiana University and its efforts to bring together experienced trailblazers in green industry together to inspire and assist our next generation of professionals. In both the public and private sector, the ‘Green Revolution’ is here to stay – permanently. We are proud to be a part of this vital and game changing movement and to be able to share our own experiences with like minded students.”
