Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the nation’s leading recycler of electronic waste, announced today that it has for the sixth consecutive year been named an honoree of the state’s prestigious Waste Reduction Award Program (WRAP).

The WRAP Awards are an annual program established in 1993 by the California Integrated Waste Management Board, now CalRecycle, to recognize California businesses that have made outstanding efforts to reduce waste and send less garbage to state landfills.

“We are extremely proud to once again be recognized by the State of California for our waste reduction efforts,” said John Shegerian, ERI’s Chairman and CEO. “That it is our sixth consecutive year to be honored with the WRAP Award is a testament to our constant commitment to the proper disposal of electronic waste and the hazards it presents to our environment. We are passionate about doing everything we can, beyond our industry-leading e-waste recycling efforts, to be a green and sustainable organization as well. From the electric forklifts in our facility to the energy efficient lighting to recycled office furniture to the fleet of hybrid cars our sales team drives, being in touch with our green DNA is something we instill among all our employees. We will exhibit our sixth consecutive WRAP Award with great pride.”

According to CalRecycle, the WRAP awards are given to businesses that develop progressive and creative programs that reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills. To show the State’s appreciation of their efforts, ERI will receive an official WRAP award certificate and will become authorized to use the WRAP logo in advertising and promotion throughout 2011.
