Partnering with Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), Samsung Electronics has taken the initiative to stage a special E-Waste Collection Event this Saturday at no charge to consumers. ERI, the largest recycler of electronic waste in the nation, will provide its Fresno headquarters and facility as the location for an event designed to give the community at large an opportunity to safely unload their old computers, television sets and other out-dated, unusable or unwanted consumer electronic items for proper recycling that is safe and environmentally sound. Samsung is working with ERI to sponsor the e-waste takeback event and will encourage participating residents to sign up for the Energy Star Pledge.
Recognizing Samsung’s green efforts, Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin last week presented a formal commendation to Samsung Electronics, recognizing Samsung Electronics’ Environmental Leadership and its efforts promoting Energy Star.
“By their actions here in Fresno – and all across the U.S., Samsung Electronics continues to illustrate that it recognizes the need for proper and responsible recycling of electronic waste,” said Mayor Swearengin. “Not only that, Samsung is very serious about being a part of the solution to the overall global e-waste problem. Samsung has held steady to its principles of protection for the environment, people and developing countries and is the first manufacturer to participate with the e-Stewards Enterprise program. The importance of their leadership on this issue cannot be overstated and Fresno thanks and congratulates them for their trailblazing efforts.”
“It’s good to once again be partnering with Samsung Electronics for this special takeback program,” said John Shegerian, Chairman and CEO of ERI. “Samsung Electronics is an organization that has long been forward-thinking in terms of environmental concerns. This electronic recycling event is a further example of that commitment. We echo Mayor Swearengin’s commendation of Samsung’s efforts and are proud to stand alongside them. Together, we are helping the good people of the Central Valley become more environmentally responsible and offering them a convenient opportunity to safely dispose of their old electronic devices at the same time.”
In an attempt to help the people of Fresno and the environment, Samsung Electronics has become proactive in its efforts to collect electronic waste for this special event that will take place June 23rd.
