Fresno’s Electronic Recyclers International is making it easier for people to find recycling locations with a new mobile app for Apple and Android devices.

The free app, available for download at 1800Recycling.com/mobile, pinpoints nearly 140,000 locations where people can bring in trash, paper, glass, electronics and other recyclable materials.

With drop off sites throughout the U.S. and Canada, the app also lets users search for places that take in specific materials.

They can also save maps and contact information for recycling locations in a list that can be shared with others via email, Facebook, Twitter or text.

The app works directly with the flagship 1800recycling.com, which contains blogs, state guidelines and directions to recycling centers as well as information on recycling, composting and other environmental tips.

ERI, the country’s largest recycler of electronic waste, processes more than 160 million pounds of electronic waste annually at eight facilities in seven U.S. states, including California, Colorado, Indiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Texas and Washington.
