Providing Hawaiians a convenient way to responsibly recycle unwanted consumer electronics, LG Electronics USA has joined forces with Electronic Recyclers International (ERI) and T&N Computer Recycling to host a special e-waste collection event to take place in Maui County this weekend.
This opportunity for Hawaiians to dispose of their unwanted electronics in an environmentally responsible way will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Henry Perrine Baldwin High School in Wailuku between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The event, sponsored by LG Electronics USA, is free to the public, and accepted items include computer equipment, televisions and mobile devices. For this special manufacturing takeback program, ERI, the largest recycler of electronic waste in the nation, safely recycles all e-waste collected across the Hawaiian islands.
“Partnering with a responsible manufacturer like LG and our partner T&N to benefit the good people of Hawaii continues to be a rewarding experience,” said John Shegerian, chairman and CEO of ERI. “The work we will be doing this weekend to prevent unwanted electronics from ending up in landfills, partnering with a forward-thinking, environmentally concerned company like LG, is a further example of just what can be accomplished when great organizations pool their resources for the common good.”
“Events like these are so important because they help the local residents unload the electronic junk that’s just sitting around while also benefiting the environment,” said Nik Nikolaidis of T&N Computer Recycling Services, who will be collecting the e-waste at the events. “We are proud to be able, alongside LG and ERI, to help Hawaii’s residents become more environmentally responsible by offering them convenient opportunities to safely dispose of their old electronic devices.”

In conjunction with the recycling event, consumers are being urged to “Do 1 Thing ENERGY STAR.” Taylor said replacing older TVs and computer monitors with new ENERGY STAR certified models helps consumers save energy and money while addressing climate change.
