Producer Responsibility Program

Maine has a ban on CRT containing electronic devices that became effective 7/20/2006.

State Operated Program

Manufacturers are responsible for the costs of handling and recycling of all Maine household-generated covered electronic devices (CEDs) managed by state approved consolidators. Manufacturers participate in a state operated plan where approved consolidators invoice manufacturers for their return share (computer monitors, laptops, digital picture frames and desktop printers) or their market share (televisions and video game consoles) of the CEDs collected and recycling through the Maine program.
